Ancient Universities Alumni Associations
The 11th Annual Ancient Universities Alumni Burns Nicht
Winchester Country Club
Saturday, January 27, 2018
The evening will begin with a reception starting at 5:30pm. A bagpipe and drum demonstration and a performance by Highland Dance Boston will follow. The pipers, Kevin Wisehart and Heather Wisehart, the drummer, Quinn McCormack, and Highland Dance Boston led by Robert McOwen will lead the procession to dinner at 7pm. After dinner, the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will perform and then lead in Country Dancing until 11:30pm. The event is open to members of the Society and of co-sponsor organizations including the Ancient Universities alumni organizations, and the National Trust for Scotland Foundation and members' guests.
Attire for gentlemen will be black tie (kilt, of course), or lounge suit. We remind those who plan to come that we give a commitment to our caterers several days before the dinner, and that after that point we are unable to refund any payment. The cost of the dinner is $140 per person and includes the reception with a full bar (1 drinks ticket included). You can book online, or contact David Manns at secretary@oxcamne.org or 781-354-3979 with any questions. The deadline for reservations to be received is Monday January 22, 2018.
The Winchester Country Club has ample parking. Directions are here. Although the Winchester Country Club is in the suburbs, one of the reasons we selected it is that it is accessible from Boston and Cambridge by public transportation. There is infrequent bus service (bus 350) between Alewife Station and the club (Mystic Street/Old Mystic Street stop), or it is a short Lyft/Uber ride from Alewife.
Should you wish to rent a kilt for the event, you can find possible sources here.
Sincerely,
William Leaf-Herrmann
