Brunch with Professor Jane Clarke, FMedSci FRS, President of Wolfson College, Cambridge

Saturday, March 9, 2019, Noon – 2:00pm

Loews Hotel, 154 Berkeley St, Boston

Professor Jane Clarke was installed as the 6th President of Wolfson College, Cambridge on October 1, 2017.

Professor Clarke is a protein chemist, known for her work on protein folding, who has had a somewhat unusual pathway to the presidency of Wolfson. After receiving a First in Biochemistry from the University of York in 1972 she completed a PGCE at Cambridge and became a science teacher, for a time serving as Head of Science at an inner-London comprehensive school. She moved to the U.S in 1987, where she was bitten by the research bug. On returning to Cambridge she joined the research group of Professor Sir Alan Fersht FRS in the MRC Centre for Protein Engineering and was awarded a PhD in 1994. She has held a highly prestigious Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship since 2001 and was promoted to a personal Chair in Molecular Biophysics in 2010, from which she retired when she became President.

She is in Boston primarily to meet Wolfson alumni (if you are a Wolfson alum and haven’t yet heard from the College, please email development-director@wolfson.cam.ac.uk), but 10 places are available for alumni from other colleges and can be reserved here. The cost of the brunch is $60.
