Blue Hills Hike

Sunday May 15, 2022

Another successful hike!

Here is our group of intrepid hikers:

Please join our next Oxford and Cambridge Society hike on Sunday May 15th, starting out at 9:00am (rain date Sunday June 12th).

This will be a short hike in the Blue Hills Reservation. The Blue Hills is an easily accessible state park approximately 10 miles south of Boston. Established in the 1890s, it covers more than 7000 acres spread over six towns: Quincy, Braintree, Canton, Dedham, Milton, and Randolph. Our hike will start and finish near the Trailside Museum in Canton, and include most of the western portion of the Skyline Trail as well as Eliot Tower atop Great Blue Hill, with a view of the Boston skyline. It will be approximately 5 miles and take about 3.5 hours, depending upon our speed and whether participants would like to lengthen or shorten it. After the hike we will head to the nearby Trillium Brewing Co for food and drinks.

The hike is moderately demanding with no single ascent of more than about 400 feet, but participants should be comfortable on a brisk walk when in town and not be subject to any infirmities that constrain their ability to step steeply up and down rocks.

Unfortunately there will be no dogs allowed for the event, as the Blue Hills can get congested on weekends and Trillium Brewing Co does not allow dogs at this time.

Participation is limited to ten, please register no more than one additional guest. When you sign up, you will be sent suggestions for dress, what to bring, and directions to our starting point. The hike will be led by Adam Apt and Jason Ng.
