Spring Concert & Dinner, Saturday March 19, 2011

Our annual SPRING EVENT will be held on Saturday, March 19th, at Roxbury Latin School, 101 St. Theresa Avenue, West Roxbury, Mass., starting at 6:00p.m.  This year our evening will begin with a short concert and talk, followed by reception and dinner.

Our guest of honor, John Robinson, is the dynamic and recently appointed Director of Music at St Paul's Church, Harvard Square, home of the Boston Boy Choir. Previously he was the Assistant Organist at Canterbury Cathedral in England, and Organist of the King's School Canterbury. He graduated from St. John's College Cambridge where he was the Organ Scholar. John Robinson has toured extensively in both Europe and the US, both as Organist and Music Director, and several recordings of his work have been issued.

Mr. Robinson and members of the Choir will present a short concert and he will also speak about his work before the reception and dinner.  The music will include works by Vaughan Williams, Lalouette, Langlais, Rutter and Charles Wood. Roxbury Latin’s fine hall provides a splendid setting for what promises to be a very special musical event. There is an interesting article from the Boston Globe about the Choir School and John Robinson’s plans for it at

Attire for gentlemen will be black tie, college blazer or business suit. We remind those who plan to come that we give a commitment to our caterers several days before the dinner, and that after that point we are unable to refund any payment. You may book online using your PayPal account or credit card, or contact Richard Mansfield at to reserve places and arrange for payment by check.  Directions to Roxbury Latin can be found here. The  cost per person is $85 ($60 for students).  Seating capacity at Roxbury Latin is ample, so this is the perfect occasion to bring guests and introduce other Oxbridgians to the Society!

Please note the following times and be sure to arrive punctually for the concert, unlike our usual dinners where one can arrive at any time during the reception:

Doors open:   6:00pm
