Shakespeare Anniversary Event, Thursday April 21st 2016

The Oxford and Cambridge Society is joining with the Algonquin Club of Boston to present an evening which includes a reception and a talk by Tiffany Stern, Professor of Early Modern Drama and Tutorial Fellow, University College Oxford. The year 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the Shakespeare's death - please join us to celebrate!

Professor Stern specializes in Shakespeare, theatre history from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, book history and editing. Her work arises from an interest in the contexts that shaped the ways playwrights wrote and actors performed. Her first book was Rehearsal from Shakespeare to Sheridan; her second book, Making Shakespeare, focused on Shakespeare’s London, actors, theatres, props and music. Both books are used by theatre companies interested in experimenting with ‘original’ methods of Shakespearean production. She graduated from Merton College, Oxford, and received her PhD from Emmanuel College, Cambridge. After a Junior Research Fellowship at Merton, Tiffany worked at Oxford Brookes University for four years. She is now back at Oxford University as Professor of Early Modern Drama (English Faculty), and Beaverbrook and Bouverie Fellow in English (University College).

The cost of this event is $40 per person, and includes reception with Hors d'oeuvres and a glass of wine. There will also be a cash bar. You can book online. Reservations should be made by Monday, April 18.
