The All-Ivy and Oxbridge Club of New England is delighted to host the men and ladies of Oxford and Cambridge who are in the US to play the Prentice and Seabright Cups against the combined teams from Harvard and Yale. This event is supported by the Yale Association of RI, The Harvard Club of RI and the Oxford and Cambridge Society of New England. There are three men and two women from each university representing the English side and it would be wonderful to give them a warm welcome to Newport! Please contact Ross Cann (Yale’85 Cam’88; / RCann@a4arch.com/ 401.849.5100) to reserve your place.   Event Schedule: 2:00pm-4:45pmEnglish players play on the lawn courts at the Newport Casino (5.0-6.0 rated players please contact Ross Cann if you are interested in playing) 4:45pm-6:00pmEnglish players have an exhibition and clinic on the Real Tennis Court 6:00pm-7:30pm Drinks Party on the upper porch for the visitors and hosts (host attendees: $15/pp)   The Prentice Cup The Prentice Cup started in 1921 as the first international intercollegiate tennis event ever held and stands today as the oldest truly amateur tennis competition played on an international scale. It is a match between a joint Oxford/Cambridge Team and a combined Harvard/Yale Team. It takes place every two years alternately in the UK, where it is held at the All England Club, and in the USA, where it is held at the Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club. The visiting side of six men tour the host country for a total of 6 weeks, playing at some of the most prestigious tennis clubs in the United States.   In 2010 at the All England Club, Harvard/Yale won 12-9 and the OxBridge team will be looking to avenge the defeat this summer!
