Peabody-Essex Museum Tour

Saturday 2 May 2009

A group of about 15 joined this afternoon visit to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, hosted by Phillip Prodger (Darwin College, Cambridge), Curator of Photography at the Peabody Essex Museum. He gave us a fascinating tour of the Print Room, not normally open to the general public, where we were able to view priceless early photographs at close quarters.

There was also a guided tour of the current special exhibit “Mahjong. Chinese Contemporary Art.”

When the Museum closed at 5pm, most of the group, plus Professor Prodger, assembled for refreshment at the Hawthorne Hotel nearby.
