Distinguished Alumni Talk Spring 2008

Niall Ferguson

The latest in our Distinguished Alumni Series took place at The Roxbury Latin School by kind permission of the Headmaster, Kerry Brennan, on Wednesday, April 2nd. Our guest that evening will be Niall Ferguson (Magdalen), Laurence A. Tisch Professor of History at Harvard University and William Ziegler Professor at Harvard Business School. A resident faculty member of the Minda de Gunzburg Centre for European Studies, he is also a Senior Fellow of Jesus College, Oxford, and a Senior Research Fellow of the Hoover Institute at Stanford.

Professor Ferguson is a prolific contributor to the public debate on contemporary politics and economics, writing and reviewing for the British and American press and appearing regularly on television and radio. He is a contributing editor for the Financial Times and a columnist for The Sunday Telegraph. In 2004 Time named him as one of the world's one hundred most influential people. His most recent book is "The War of the World: Twentieth-Century Conflict and the Decline of the West".

The evening began with a reception from 6.30-7.15pm, after which Professor Ferguson gave his talk. This was followed by a question period.
