Dinner with Dr. Piet van Boxel

Our annual HOLIDAY DINNER was held on Saturday, 6th December, at Roxbury Latin School, 101 St. Theresa Avenue, West Roxbury, Mass., starting at 6:30p.m.

Our speaker was the distinguished scholar Dr. Piet van Boxel, curator of the Hebraica and Judaica collection at the Bodleian Library and also Academic Director of the Centre for Hebrew and Judaic Studies at Oxford University. The focus of his own research and publications is the ecclesiastical censorship of Hebrew manuscripts in sixteenth century Italy. Prior to his present appointments, Dr. Van Boxel taught at Utrecht University and at Leo Baeck College in London. He will illustrate his talk with examples from the Bodleian Library's world-famous collection of manuscripts.

The title of his talk was "The Ox, the Ass and the Unicorn: a Hebrew manuscript with a Christian touch."
