2010 Christmas Dinner Invitation

Our annual CHRISTMAS DINNER will be held on Saturday, 11th December, at the CARLSON HALL of MOUNT IDA COLLEGE in Newton, Massachusetts, starting at 6:30 pm. Parking is ample, but do let us know if you require help with carpooling.

Our speaker will be Dr. Robert Anderson the distinguished museum curator and chemist, currently Vice President of Clare Hall, Cambridge.  Dr. Anderson (St John's, Oxford) has applied his scientific background to the field of curatorship, and held posts at the Royal Scottish Museum, the London Science Museum, and the National Museums of Scotland, before becoming Director of the British Museum in 1992. There he oversaw the £100 million redevelopment of the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court, designed by Norman Foster and opened by the Queen in 2000. Since 2002, he has held visiting academic posts at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton and, back in Cambridge, at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH), holding visiting fellowships at Churchill and Corpus Christi prior to his appointment at Clare Hall.  The title of his talk is "The British Museum's American Past".

Attire for gentlemen will be black tie, college blazer or business suit. We remind those who plan to come that we give a commitment to our caterers several days before the dinner, and that after that point we are unable to refund any payment. Bookings are now closed.  Directions to Mt. Ida Collage can be found here.

This mailing also serves as the notice for the Annual Meeting of Members and the Regular Meeting of Directors, which will take place at the dinner.

Sincerely,                                                                                Reception: 6:30 pm,   Dinner: 7:30 pm
